Synopsis for "The Origin of Captain Flag"

The Black Hand has kidnapped Tom Townsend and his father John Townsend. When he tortures them both for information, Tom's father dies. As the Black Hand begins to strangle Tom, a giant eagle swoops down and saves him by carrying him to a mountain top.

A few weeks later, while the Black Hand launches an unprecedented series of sabotage acts, Tom continues to heal his wounds and Yank, the eagle, brings him an American Flag. At the top of the mountain, and with the flag in hand, Tom vows to do great acts of courage in the name of Glory.
