The Mad Botanist was employed by a foreign government to kill off American scientists. When Captain Flag confronted him, the two fought it out inside a greenhouse. During the struggle, Captain Flag kicked the Mad Botanist into a "man-eating clam-plant." The plant snapped its jaws around him and began devouring him.
