The New Archies is a NBC Saturday morning show that shows the Archie gang as pre-teens in junior high. It originally ran for four months on NBC from September 12, 1987 – December 5, 1987 before going into reruns not only on NBC but also in syndication and on cable in a span of the next 15 years.
While this show had the same Archie kids as in previous & future incarnations, The New Archies had two new African-American characters by the name of Eugene and his girlfriend Armani. Eugene was not only designed to be the replacement for Dilton Doiley, but also re-imagining of the character.
